Our thoughts, His plans

As I was reading the Daily Bread this morning, it was discussing how interruptions can be used for a purpose of God that we always cannot see. I often think while Ryan is on a mission that, "why can't our lives just be like everyone elses?" But looking back at the last three years there are things that have come across our paths where we were able to help other people through tough times because of where we are today. There have also been countless things that I have been able to do because Ryan isn't here. I know that sounds a little weird but like taking care of two doggies comes to mind. Ryan would not have been too keen on watching two small dogs for a friend of ours. But because I wanted to help this person out it worked out that I was able to do so.

I am not sure if any of this is making sense but one thing that I do know is that our plans are not always what is best for us. This time last year Ryan took a job with another company and a few months later he wasn't sure if he had made the best decision. Now they are offering him training that we thought wasn't ever going to happen. It is just amazing how God works all of the details out before we even take the first step of faith. I just am in love with the fact that God wants to take care of us, use US for His glory, and calls us sons and daughters.

Back to Routines

I think that the week after Christmas break is harder than the first week of school. Trying to wake up two kiddos after having two weeks of nothing but fun and sugar is not easy! I am so glad that it is the weekend and they can have a little bit of relaxation as well as me.

In a few weeks though Ryan will be home and my routine will be thrown out the window again but in a good way. It is days of getting up early with the kids and staying up late with him talking and finding out the details of what has happened over the last five months. One thing about telephones and Skype is that you really don’t think about all of the small things that you want to say until you are face to face. That is one thing that I miss the most is just the little details of his day and how I can help him through the aggravation of certain circumstances. Just to be able to talk to one another face to face. Isn’t that so crazy!?! But it is our life and we just take one day at a time.

I was talking to Savannah this morning about Paul the apostle and how he went through so much as a witness for God but he kept running the race because he knew that God had a perfect plan. I related this to our lives and how God knows our heart but His plan is perfect and He will provide Ryan a job stateside when His timing is right. It is hard sometimes for the minds of children to understand this but I am so thankful that God has given me grace to be strong for my kids.

“Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think anything as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God”

Four Kids, One sick mama

Hello everyone,

As I write this, I enjoy only hearing the sound of my keyboard while my two little ones are asleep. Today was a long day with four kids and a head cold. But I made it through and happily. It's those short phone calls with my hubby that gets me through days like this. It seems as though God knows just when to prick his heart to give me a call. We are looking forward to having Christmas this year in February with him. To us it really doesn't matter the day but the time shared together that we remember and enjoy the most. Well hopefully I get a good night's rest tonight. Good night everyone! May you all stay safe as well as your hubbies!

New to the Blog World

Hello everyone! I am so excited to introduce this site to every woman or man that has been married to a contractor at home or abroad. Most of my experience has been with my husband working abroad so I look forward to hearing from people that have had the same experiences. My husband, Ryan, and I have been married for almost 11 years. We have two children, Savannah is 8 and Ryan is 4. This life is not always easy but we have managed to do this now for about five years. I know that their are a lot of misconceptions out there when it comes to contracting, the lifestyle, and the details that go with it. I look to help people that are going through the same things that I am and learn more about the lives of the women (and men) that are left behind to keep the home fires buring. I can't wait to meet new people and find out what is going on out there. Please note that this is my first time doing a blog so if some things aren't perfect please give me time to learn the ropes.

*Just a note, I do not want any crude comments or inappropriate language used on the blog. I look to respect everyone and hope that the same can be returned. God bless!
